DJI Osmo Action — Rugged Cameras
The Osmo Action 6 is DJI's newest action camera — a larger 1/1.1-inch square sensor, the first variable aperture (f/2.0–f/4.0) in a DJI action camera and 50GB of built-in storage. The Action 5 Pro remains an excellent, lower-cost option; both are in stock. The larger 1/1.3" sensor delivers genuine low-light capability uncommon in action cameras. The Action 4 and earlier remain available at lower prices.

DJI Osmo Pocket — Gimbal Cameras
The Pocket 4 keeps a 1-inch sensor and adds 4K 240fps slow motion, 10-bit D-Log (14 stops claimed) and 107GB of built-in storage. The Pocket 3 remains an excellent choice at a reduced price.
| Model | Sensor | Max video | Stabilisation | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DJI Osmo Pocket 4 | 1" | 4K 60p; 4K 240fps slow motion; 107GB built-in storage | 3-axis mechanical gimbal | In stock |
| DJI Osmo Pocket 3 | 1" | 4K 120fps | 3-axis mechanical gimbal | Ask for availability |
| DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo | 1" | 4K 120fps | Gimbal + mic + ND filters | Ask for availability |
The Pocket series uses a mechanical gimbal rather than electronic stabilisation — this is why the footage looks different from an action camera. Better for travel, interviews, and slow narrative video; less suited for sports or waterproof use.
Common Questions
The Pocket 4 wins on stabilisation and low-light, but it is a dedicated video-first device. The V10 is broader — stills and video in a compact body (it is not a weather-sealed camera). If you are primarily making video content, Pocket 4. If you want one camera for everything on a trip, the V10.
For most users, yes. The larger sensor and better low-light performance are a genuine step up. GoPro has a longer track record for durability in extreme conditions, but the Action 5 Pro is competitive on waterproofing (20 m vs GoPro's 10 m without a housing).
The Osmo series uses the DJI Mimo app. The Action 5 Pro also has a standalone mode with onboard controls. Both apps are free on iOS and Android.

These are genuinely different tools for different situations. The confusion is understandable because both are small and both shoot video — but they are designed around opposite priorities.
- Choose the Osmo Action 5 Pro if: You need waterproofing (surfing, diving, monsoon trekking, water sports). You want to mount the camera to a helmet, chest harness, or vehicle. You are shooting in dusty, muddy, or physically demanding environments. The rugged form factor is the point.
- Choose the Osmo Pocket 4 if: You want the best possible image quality in a small package for controlled environments — travel, interviews, vlogs, restaurant reviews. The mechanical gimbal produces smoother footage than electronic stabilisation at the same sensor size. It is not waterproof and not designed for impact.
Both cameras connect to the DJI Mimo app for remote control, tracking, and editing. Both use magnetic accessories. The Pocket 4's 1" sensor gives it a clear image quality advantage in low light — it is not a compromise, it is genuinely excellent.
For Canon camera owners who already have a mirrorless body: the Pocket 4 serves a different niche (always-on pocket camera for when the big camera stays in the bag). The Action 5 Pro is for situations where the mirrorless cannot go.
