Canon EOS R6 Mark III vs R6V

Paras N Paras, Canon Image Square, RP Road, Secunderabad — both bodies in stock

Short answer

Same 32.5MP sensor, same autofocus, same 40 fps electronic burst and the same 7K RAW video. The R6 Mark III is the hybrid all-rounder: electronic viewfinder, a 12 fps mechanical shutter and stronger IBIS. The R6V drops the viewfinder and mechanical shutter in favour of active cooling, a video-first body with vertical shooting support and a power-zoom lever, built for shooters who lead with video. If you shoot stills first, buy the R6 Mark III. If you shoot video first, buy the R6V.

What's actually different

Both bodies inherit the same 32.5MP sensor and autofocus engine, the same 7K RAW video, weather sealing and CFexpress Type B + SD card slots, so image quality and subject tracking are identical between them. Where they diverge is in who each one is built for. The R6 Mark III keeps the electronic viewfinder, a 12 fps mechanical shutter and the stronger stabilisation — the layout of a camera meant to be held up to your eye and shot with all day, video included. The R6V removes the viewfinder and mechanical shutter, and adds active cooling for extended recording, a vertical tripod mount and UI, and a power-zoom lever for the RF 20–50mm PZ kit lens.

For hybrid shooters — stills and video in roughly equal measure — the R6 Mark III is the better fit, because the viewfinder, mechanical shutter and stronger IBIS matter for stills. For shooters whose output is mainly video, especially long takes, the R6V's cooling and video-first handling are the better fit.

Common Questions

For long-form video, yes: the R6V adds a built-in cooling fan for extended recording, a vertical tripod mount and UI, and a power-zoom lever. Sensor, autofocus, 40 fps electronic burst and 7K RAW recording are the same on both. For hybrid shooters and stills-first photographers, the R6 Mark III is the better choice — it keeps the viewfinder, the mechanical shutter and stronger IBIS.

They share the same 32.5MP sensor, autofocus system, 40 fps electronic burst, 7K RAW video, weather sealing and dual card slots. The R6V is a video-first body — no electronic viewfinder, no mechanical shutter, active cooling for long recording, and the RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ power-zoom lens as its kit option. The R6 Mark III is the hybrid all-rounder — electronic viewfinder, 12 fps mechanical shutter and stronger IBIS, aimed at photographers who also shoot video.

The R6V body is slightly cheaper at ₹2,35,995 versus ₹2,43,995 for the R6 Mark III body. Kit pricing differs more because the two bodies ship with different lenses — the R6 Mark III's 24-105mm STM kit is ₹2,71,995, while the R6V's 20-50mm power-zoom kit is ₹3,55,995.
